I am a very proud citizen of the United Arab Emirates, not because it's a developing country or of its grand successes locally and internationally but also because the UAE is growing its own media sector and firms in ways success couldn't imagine. Everything is happening everywhere and it is HUGE.

Let's look at the airline business today.

I'm sure you are familiar with Emirates newest slogan 'Hello Tomorrow'. They used all kinds of media selection, such as radio stations, billboards, commercials and ads basically everything. "Hello Tomorrow" is all about inspiring people to go and experience places not only that but gives off a whole new image about Emirates Airlines for in their ad's you can see that they are showing you change, they show that in this developing world they are also developing and connecting people, and cultures. The time is now, and "Hello Tomorrow" says it all.

Being one of the world's fastest growing
airlines today, Emirates launched its
"Share a Smile" campaign. The airline
created 29 videos in 14 languages.
The campaign is all about sharing
unusual expressions with the world.
The videos can be shared with friends
and family to bring smiles on their faces.
Not only that there is also a out-takes video
showing how much fun the crew
had making these videos. This is just
another successful way for Emirates to
connect with their consumers making a
real relationship and starting
it with a smile.

At first, I had difficulty understanding
what is
going on in the video, but then I
understood that the expression
written is what the host is
speaking in their own language then
translating it for everyone to understand.

Moving to another grand airline born in the UAE, Etihad Airways.
Etihad launched its biggest television advertising campaign this February marking their newest slogan "The World is Our Home, You are Our Guest".
Their ad didn't only run on television but I know that everyone living in the UAE must have seen and looked at their HUGE billboard ad. Every time I pass by it in Abu Dhabi I can't help but stare at this creativity. No. It's not only creative it's a real masterpiece. Etihad really reflected their vision, their work progress in a short statement, that made a huge impact.

If you are a UAE citizen you will notice that in their ad, some of the main sites the air hostesses show in are in the UAE. In my opinion, that was a smart move by Etihad, making it clear that no matter what where the airline was born will never be forgotten and always be thankful.

Hope you had fun reading about this, as I did researching about it.
Dream of beautiful things :)

If you ever visited Lebanon or you are Lebanese then you will know that loving Almaza is in our blood just like loving out own country. We love Lebanon with all our soul even with all the things that happen, all the party arguments and fights, when someone messes with Lebanon we stick together. That's the funny part about being Lebanese, we hate being in Lebanon, we hate that there is rarely any water, we hate that there is no electricity especially when we need it (which is at night because we get eaten by mosquitoes in the summer, or freeze in  winter) we hate that everything breaks down and nothing lasts long, yet we LOVE our country. Funny right!?
Anyways I've always loved Lebanese ad's, from the commercials to the random billboards. They are what inspired me to enter this profession and study it, and I hope excel in it.
These are 3 Almaza ad's which I found.
The black and white one says don't compare, and has two kinds of beers on it the Almaza and the Amstel beer.

The second one says "samra 2aw sha2ra" which means the brunette or the blond, but in this context referring to the beers taste and color.
I love the play with words!

Finally, the third ad, our barbecues are our food, if you enter any Lebanese restaurant you will find barbecue on the menu, alongside with the mezza, taboole and fatoush. Because that's who we are, this ad says "haida jawna, haida ni7na" which means this is how we are, this is us. Notice the beer cap between the meat and veggies. I love it !

Seems like everywhere you go people are drinking. One of the worlds most known beers is Heineken. The internationally sold beer does a very good job on its advertising too.
I love the postal ad, and i love how the stamps made the shape of the beer bottle confirming the slogan of that ad that the world is one.

Our life is a ticking bomb. We do not know when it may end, and we don't know how either, yet live everyday hoping we'll live to the next. If we are not exposed to such deaths then why do we chose to fasten our death, and invite it into our lives.
Personally I do not smoke, never have.Even though everyone around me does I never thought about trying it.  I've always noticed something though, that every packet of cigarettes has a message that smoking is bad for you and has consequences. So why don't people quit? or decrease their intake of cigarettes?
The thing is if you smoke and read or see the anti smoking ad's you will think to yourself 'this will not happen to me'.
Let's talk about what smokers do to themselves before moving on to what damage they do to others.
I do not want to go into medical details saying it will cause you cancer, leukemia heart problems, lung problems shortness of breath or whatever, I'm sure you know better.  However I would like to state some statistics here.
1/3 of the male population smokes
Smoking related diseases kills 1 in 10 adults globally !
Every 8 SECONDS someone dies from tobacco use.
Among teenagers aged between 13 to 15, 1 in 5 smoke
Evidence show that 50% of those who start smoking furing their early years continue to smoke for 15 to 20 years.
Now if you do smoke but do not care about what may happen to you, please care for those breathing the air you smoke.
  Secondhand smoking is responsible for:
Increasing the risk for a heart attack of a nonsmoker
                   Heart disease
                   Lung cancer
Also children are higher risk of getting sick.
Even though these ad's are ignored by smokers they do also cause a change.
Let's take a moment to look at the creativity and extent of reflection of reality in these ad's.

I've never paid attention to Mad Men when it used to play on the television when I'm bored.  I've recently started watching it and it's pretty interesting. In the first season Don Draper said something that struck me he said 'advertising is based on happiness' and it is true, every ad relates to you and gives you a feel of the brand and that is how sales are generated.
For 20% of customers generate 80% of sales. That's the Pareto Principle.
Coca Cola does that with the happiness campaign. Not just that Coca Cola always comes back with better and better ad's every season.

I'd like to think that everyone brushes their teeth AT LEAST twice a day, not only when they wake up or before they sleep, for there is nothing worse than someone talking to you or breathing in your face having bad breath.

Colgate released some ad's for their dental floss and I'm sure someone has shown them to you making fun of Colgate's photoshop skills like look at how many fingers the lady in this ad has (-->)
or where did that other hand come from (bottom ad)?

The thing is everyone loves seeing others make mistakes, It's just the way to feel like we are not the only ones screwing up. Y&R in Brazil released these ad's knowing
that the photoshop mistakes are there.
Here's the catch, Colgate sold and sold and sold !
The fact is everyone notices the food left over on the teeth of these two men, but when later on realizing the photoshop disasters they can't help but stare, and stare allowing the ad to enter their brains forever (not exactly, but you would be staring without noticing that you are taking your time doing so therefore grabbing your attention)! Not only that, don't forget word of mouth !! After seeing this for the first time wouldn't you want to show it to your family and friends!

Now that is one smart ad !

Another ad Colgate went through is the next few ones that show vegetables sitting around or playing golf with the slogan 'There are places your toothpick/finger/tongue will never reach.'
Even though the figures used in these ad's are not human we can still relate to them. How many times have you tried removing a piece of onion stuck between your teeth. OH see that finger below the light ! There you go, the use of the word "finger" in the first ad.

One of the things I hate the most about eating corn is the time I spend trying to remove the bits and pieces from between my teeth.
I feel bad for that poor tongue that is holding the golf bats for Mr. Corn. I know how he feels.
See just like that the ad made me relate to it without me realising it.

The last one is the broccoli.  I have to admit I rarely eat broccoli but when I do I do not like the fact that the little green heads get stuck in my teeth!
I think you got the point, and I will let you find the toothpick on your own.

Today at work as I ordered a Subway sandwich I wondered....I never saw an ad for subway !
like ever! except when they make those fliers and that huge poster outside their store, other than that nothing.
So I googled it and did you know that the American fast food restaurant has approximately 39,000 franchises, in 101 countries ! AND THERE ARE MORE SUBWAYS AROUND THE WORLD THAN MACDONALDS ! whaaaaaaaaat !
I know ! I'm shocked too ! but I love subway back in uni when I had nothing to eat for lunch I would order a Subway sandwich.

I'm sure you've heard of the Jared Fogle story, if not it's the guy who ate subway for a certain amount of days that I'm not sure of then lost weight ! That ad was just to show how healthy subway is.

Fast food firms are always competing to have the healthiest food, and Subway achieved that with this ad, and the fact that your sandwich is made right in front of you.

Anyways, my message today is eat healthy and make the right choices, for you're body is 70% food and 30% workout.
